Bump Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
Bump does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Your training data stays on your device and syncs only through your own private iCloud account, which we have no way to access. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no trackers. If you connect Apple Health it stays on your device, and if you send feedback from the app, we receive only what you type and choose to include.
Bump (“the app”) is an iPhone and Apple Watch weightlifting tracker developed by Samuel Petrarca (“we,” “us”). This policy explains exactly what happens to your information when you use Bump. We’ve tried to write it in plain language, because the honest answer is short.
Information you create
Everything you log in Bump — your exercises, sets, reps, weights, goals, bump increments, workout history, and app preferences such as units and theme — is stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device database (SwiftData).
If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Bump, this data also syncs across your own Apple devices through Apple’s CloudKit private database. That data lives in your iCloud account. We do not operate any server that receives it, and under Apple’s CloudKit model the developer cannot read the contents of your private database. We never see your workouts.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you choose to connect Apple Health, Bump can save each completed strength workout to Health, so your training shows up alongside the rest of your activity. On Apple Watch, Bump also reads your heart rate and active energy during a live workout — only to record an accurate strength-training session.
This is entirely optional, happens on your device, and is never transmitted to us or used for advertising. Bump works fully without it, and you can grant or revoke access any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
What we don’t do
- We don’t require an account, email, or sign-up.
- We don’t use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We don’t collect your location, contacts, or device identifiers for tracking.
- We don’t sell, rent, or share your data with anyone — outside of feedback you choose to send (below), your data never reaches us in the first place.
Information Apple processes
Two parts of Bump rely on Apple, and are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy:
- iCloud sync — handled entirely by Apple between your devices, as described above.
- Subscriptions — Bump Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription purchased through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive or store your name, card number, or billing details. Apple provides us only with aggregate, non-identifying sales and analytics reports (for example, how many subscriptions were active in a period).
Exporting your data
Bump lets you save a CSV backup of your data from Settings → Back Up & Restore. This is initiated by you and sent only to wherever you choose via the iOS share sheet. The backup never passes through us.
Feedback you choose to send
Bump has a Send Feedback form in Settings. Nothing about it is automatic: it sends only when you tap Send, and it sends exactly what the form shows — your note, the topic you picked, an optional reply-to email, and (if you leave “Include app & device info” switched on) the app version, OS version, device model, and language setting. No name, no identifiers, no log files.
Your note is delivered to our private issue tracker and used for one purpose: fixing bugs and improving Bump. If you include an email address, we use it only to reply about your note. Feedback is never sold, shared, or used for marketing, and you can ask us to delete a note you’ve sent any time by emailing support@noextrasteps.com.
Permissions
Apple Health is optional and used only as described above. Apart from that, Bump does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, or contacts. iCloud sync uses your device’s existing iCloud setting, which you control in iOS Settings.
Children’s privacy
Bump is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone — including children — because outside of feedback a user chooses to send, we don’t collect personal information at all.
Keeping and deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, you’re in control of it. To remove it: delete your data within the app, delete the app from your device, and/or remove Bump’s data from iCloud in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Once removed from your devices and iCloud, it’s gone — we hold no copy.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Bump handles data, we’ll update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
